leslieThe Central Valley Flood Protection Board Executive Officer Leslie Gallagher was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the National Association of Flood and Stormwater Management Agencies (NAFSMA). NAFSMA is an organization of state and local public agencies whose function is the protection of lives, property and economic activity from the adverse impacts of storm and flood waters. Headquartered in Washington DC, NAFSMA advocates for public policy and improving and ensuring the continuation of water resource projects and programs of interest to flood and stormwater management agencies nationwide.

Since its founding in 1978, NAFSMA has worked to inform and educate congressional and federal policy makers of the importance of flood prevention, stormwater management, disaster relief assistanc, and other issues of major concern. The association also encourages technologies and conducts education programs which facilitate and enhance the achievement of the public service function of its members.
