October 24, 2017. The Senate this afternoon by a vote of 82-17 approved the $36.5 billion funding package for hurricane and wildfire relief.  The House had approved the measure on October 12.  Included in the bill are provisions to forgive $16 billion of debt for the National Flood Insurance Program.  In addition to the NFIP debt forgiveness, H. Res. 569 also includes $18.7 billion for FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund, $576.5 million for wildfire fighting efforts and $1.27 billion for disaster nutrition assistance in Puerto Rico.  The President is expected to sign the bill.
