Much Of Levee Damage From This Year’s Storms Has Not Been Repaired

Central Valley Flood Protection Board President Bill Edgar, Board Counsel Jit Dua, and Executive Officer Leslie Gallagher attended a Flood Preparedness Week news conference and briefing by the Department of Water Resources near the Sacramento Weir at one of last winter’s levee repair sites. After the briefing, Board President Edgar called for an immediate increase in spending for maintenance and repairs to the valley’s levees, as there are still 100 levees tagged “serious” that need repair from last year’s high water events. 30 “critical” ones have already been repaired. Greg has over 18 years of experience in the engineering field and has been with the Board since 2017. Since that time, Greg has played an active role in the coordination with key agencies for the Central Valley Flood Protection Plan Update, managed multiple flood system improvement projects, and acted as PIC Branch Supervisor for nine months.
