Feds Give $1.8 Billion To Local Flood Control Projects

Several major flood control projects in the Sacramento area received $1.8 billion in federal long-term disaster recovery funding from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui of Sacramento announced Thursday the Sacramento area will receive $1.6 million for a string of local projects, including levee work around the Pocket area on the Sacramento River, several projects on the American River north of Sacramento and widening the Sacramento Weir Bypass. In addition, $216.5 million will be used to raise Folsom Dam. (more)
