Over this past summer, the Central Valley Flood Protection Board welcomed two high school students taking part in the Vista del Lago Summer Preceptorship Program. Incoming seniors, Sora Shojaie and Anna Lee, had the opportunity to work directly with the Board’s Permitting and Environmental Sections, assisting staff with the review of new applications and gaining valuable real world experience in a government agency. At the conclusion of the preceptorship, both students prepared TED-style lectures. Anna’s presentation focused on the value of confidence in the workplace, and Sora examined effective communication styles using examples of video footage taken during the Board’s June 23rd business meeting. The Board wishes Sora and Anna the best of luck as they apply to colleges in the fall.
