Central Valley Flood Protection Board President Bill Edgar, Board Counsel Jit Dua, and Executive Officer Leslie Gallagher attended a Flood Preparedness Week news conference and briefing by the Department of Water Resources near the Sacramento Weir at one of last winter’s levee repair sites. After the briefing, Board President Edgar called for an immediate increase in spending for maintenance and repairs to the valley’s levees, as there are still 100 levees tagged “serious” that need repair from last year’s high water events. 30 “critical” ones have already been repaired.
