Several major flood control projects in the Sacramento area received $1.8 billion in federal long-term disaster recovery funding from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. U.S. Rep. Doris Matsui of Sacramento announced Thursday the Sacramento area will receive $1.6 million for a string of local projects, including levee work around the Pocket area on the Sacramento River, several projects on the American River north of Sacramento and widening the Sacramento Weir Bypass.
