Central Valley Flood Protection Board -Dealing with Non-Conforming Encroachments
The Board, through its Enforcement Branch, is mandated by the California Legislature and Title 23 Regulations to protect life and property in the Central Valley from the devastating damages of flooding by ordering the repair or removal of levee vulnerabilities and code violations. The process the Board utilizes in dealing with non-conforming encroachments is outlined below in both an overview of the process and an Enforcement Flowchart.
Central Valley Flood Protection Board Enforcement Proceedings Overview
The Board is a non-federal sponsor of project levees throughout the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta. The Board’s coordination process with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Local Maintaining Agencies throughout California to address levee system eligibility in the Public Law 84-99 Rehabilitation and Inspections Program is outlined below in the Periodic Inspections and Continuing Eligibility Inspections flowcharts.
